About this Journey
Enjoy an immersive trip with your family on this fun vacation, ideal for those with children between 6-16 years old. This is a hands-on, educational trip that allows all members of the family to learn about Chinese culture and history in a fun and interactive way. Perfect the art of the Chinese yo-yo in a traditional courtyard home, paint opera masks in the imperial Summer Palace, learn the ancient art of Shaolin kung fu from monks, and climb the Great Wall. After the fun activities of the day, you’ll feel right at home at night in family-friendly accommodations.
Itinerary
Day 1 - 4 Beijing
Begin your Beijing adventure in style as WanderEastern arranges private access to the concept store and gallery of Ma Ke’s fashion house, Wuyong. • Explore the imposing Forbidden City, where emperors ruled for 500 years • Hike up jingshan and take in a commanding view over the Forbidden City • Weave your way through Beijing’s ancient, interwoven hutong alleys • Uncover a treasure trove of Qing Dynasty curios in the Temple Hotel • Peking duck dinner • Enjoy a champagne picnic on the majestic Great Wall, built to protect China’s heartland from invaders • Return to the city to watch either Beijing’s world-renowned acrobatic show or a kung fu show
Day 4 - 5 Beijing - Luoyang
Channel your inner Bruce Lee in a private kung fu lesson at the Temple of Heaven • If time permits, visit Beijing Olympic Park • Enjoy a ride on the bullet train to Luoyang • Visit legendary Shaolin Temple to learn kung fu alongside student monks
Day 6 - 7 Luoyang - Xi'an
Wander around the awe-inspiring Longmen Grottoes, where Buddhas hewn in stone tower above you • Visit White Horse Temple, reputed to be the first Buddhist temple in China • Travel at high speed on the bullet train to Xi’an • Walk atop Xi’an’s ancient city wall and enjoy a commanding view of the old city • Decipher the inscribed stone tablets in the Stele Forest before composing characters of your own in a private calligraphy lesson • Experience Xi’an with more than just your eyes by sampling some of Xi’an’s famous dumplings • Explore the sights and sounds of Xi’an’s bustling Muslim Quarter, where street vendors hawk local delicacies
Day 8 - 9 Xi'an - Lijiang
View the unflinching, eternally stationed Terracotta Warriors • Enjoy a lunch of hand-pulled noodles and traditional Shaanxi-style pork “hamburgers” • Explore the small paths and canals that weave through Lijiang Old Town before embarking on an “Eye-Spy” treasure hunt game • Either visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain by foot or bike or enjoy the spectacle of Impression Lijiang in a natural amphitheater by the mountain • Traditional Naxi dinner party and music in a local home
Day 10 - 11 Dali
En route to Dali, stop in the historical market town of Shaxi • Travel back in time by walking around Dali’s picturesque old town, a mixture of pagodas, red lanterns and mountains • Before honing your cooking skills in a private lesson, pick and choose your fresh ingredients in a local produce market • Enjoy a leisurely bike ride around Erhai Lake, whizzing past rural countryside and minority villages
Day 12 - 14 Shanghai
Enjoy VIP seating an ERA Acrobatics Performance • Wander the maze of pavilions and arched bridges of Yu Garden, the most celebrated classical garden in Shanghai • Learn the art of eating soup-filled xiaolongbao • Take in Shanghai’s famous skyline from atop a Pudong skyscraper • Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure or amble down the elegant tree-lined streets of the French Concession • Partake in a resplendent Shanghainese farewell dinner

How do I secure my spot on this tour?
We will continue to work with you until your trip is perfect.
For international bookings: Once you are ready to book, a USD$500 planning fee, per booking, is required to begin reserving your arrangements. This will go towards your trip costs and will be taken off your final balance amount.
For bookings made in China: Once you are ready to book, a RMB1,000 deposit, per person, is required. This will go towards your trip costs and will be taken off your final balance amount.
What is the payment schedule?
1. Deposit:
A deposit is required to secure your reservation. Once your deposit has been received, we will send your confirmation along with a detailed itinerary and all the information you’ll need to prepare for your journey.
2. Full payment:
Full trip payment should be made 30 days prior to departure. If you’re booking within 30 days of your departure, you may be asked to pay make the full payment straight away.
Payments can be made via Paypal, credit card, bank transfer, WeChat or Alipay
Is this trip guaranteed to run?
This trip will be scheduled to run once we receive bookings from 2 passengers. Should the journey be cancelled due to lack of sign-ups or government restrictions, WanderEastern will fully refund any deposits or fees paid.
